| Abstract | Fractures of the hook of the hamate have been infrequently reported in the literature. A high index of suspicion is required if the correct diagnosis is to be established. We report three cases of fractures of the hook of the hamate and postulate a mechanism of injury in sportsmen. Once established, an excision of the hook is usually necessary to resolve the discomfort. |
